The Bump

Today is officially 20 weeks--HALFWAY. Or perhaps over half if I consider that Tommy came at 38 weeks ;o) I can't believe we are already so far along. The whole return to work and school schtick has made it pass that much faster, I'm sure.

So, for those who may just be figuring out that I am pregnant with #3, a quick recap:
We found out we were expecting our happy little "oopsie" not long after I returned to work this fall. Part of the reason we didn't make a big 'ol announcement of it was a) we were still kinda shell-shocked and b) I had some early issues that left us wondering if this little bean was going to stick around. After a bout of cramping and some subsequent bleeding, I had a short bit of bed rest, limited activity, and then a follow up with a maternal fetal specialist. Thankfully, due to the rest and an AMAZINGLY AWESOME husband (hard to get "rest" with a toddler and almost-toddler), the issues subsided and eventually resolved on their own...another big factor...I left my stressful full-time job for another part-time one closer to home. I'm still doing the same thing--working as a school-based speech/language pathologist, but in a much healthier environment. Thank you to those few who were in-the-loop and praying for us during that scary time. We are so thankful that everything seems to be okay and moving along smoothly.

We do not plan on finding out the sex this time, so it will REALLY be a surprise when "Tiny Tegen" as s/he's been so wonderfully dubbed arrives. We recently shared the news with Maddy and she loves to talk about it. She asks me several times a day, "You got a baby in your tummy?" and then proceeds to hug and kiss my growing belly. Her prediction on gender? Girl. Lance thinks maybe boy. Me? I have no clue. I can tell you that my morning sickness was worse than the first two, and lasted a tad longer. Each one has been a bit ookier than the previous. I'm already getting the restless nights of flopping from side to side, unable to get comfortable. That's a huge bummer considering I'm only halfway. Oh well. At least I'm not peeing a million times a night just yet. Oh--due date. I am due May 27th. It will be a whirlwind of a month between my graduation (April 30th), Lance's graduation (May 12th), and just preparing to move where ever the heck it is we're going (Match Day is when we'll know--March 17th). Awesome timing, huh? :)

At any rate, we are very excited for this happy little surprise. I'm starting to have moments of panic when I realize there will soon be another little redhead (so we would expect anyways!) in the mix. --This is especially so in the moments when Maddy and Tommy are trying to wrestle a toy from the other, or both are screaming because they are hungry, or you-name-it. Three under 3...it's gonna be a wild ride! I don't think I'll be sleeping much for the next year...lol.

I have my next appointment on Monday--just a routine one, so there most likely won't be anything too exciting to share. In the meantime, I'll leave you with a picture of my 20-week bump. I think it's bigger than when I was at this stage w/ Maddy or Tommy. I blame Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the tub of cookie dough I bought from my neighbor's school fundraiser. :)
